Benjamin Goldberg, Ph.D.

My research focuses on adaptive experiential learning with an emphasis on simulation-based environments and leveraging Artificial Intelligence to create personalized experiences. This involves exploring research questions linked to intelligent tutoring, competency development, persistent learner modeling, immersive interaction, and mixed reality. My research aims to impact how technology can be applied to support the development and sustainment of expertise in challenging domains that require a combination of cognitive, psychomotor, and affective knowledge and skill sets.

I am also co-creator of the Generalized Intelligent Framework for Tutoring (GIFT), an opensource architecture used to author, deliver, and evaluate Adaptive Instructional System solutions. GIFT received the 2019 Education and Human Performance Award administered by the National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA). You can find a link to GIFT's wiki page and its cloud instance under the Resources tab.
